Food plays an integral part in our lives & we cannot escape it whether we like it or not. We eat every day & I have always been of the mindset that because of this we should embrace food & enjoy it as best we can. It shouldn't just be a necessity!
Food is not only vital for keeping on living but also the way in which we eat, when we eat & what we eat defines what we are & how we live our lives, yet sometimes we forget this - I know I am certainly guilty of shovelling whatever is nearby into my mouth & hoping for the best from time to time. I know for a fact that what we eat affects our mental health as well as our physical health.
As some of you may or may not know, I am a sufferer of depression & anxiety. This means that half the time I am not fully capable of being the person I would like to be. Through the tougher times there have been lots of people there for me - family, friends, members of support groups, bloggers & many more - in a variety of ways - being a shoulder to cry on, offering me advice, making me laugh, organising my appointments... - & I think these things are what we all need from time to time, whether mentally ill, physically ill or in perfectly good health.
So, what I would really like to do is to start a little linky, blog hop thingamy that is all about eating well for mental & physical wellbeing. There will be no rules (unless you want bossing around), just perhaps a theme or challenge every week & a platform for us all to offer our advice, share our recipes & experiences, listen, learn, eat, cook & laugh. I'm not sure of the numbers that will join in but of course the more the merrier & I'll pedal it to whoever will listen & we can see where it takes us!
Please leave a comment below if you are interested & tell me what you'd like to be included! Anyone is welcome, especially if you feel you may need a little food therapy!

Hmmm, sounds really interesting. Anything to do with food gets my vote though!
ReplyDeleteI'm in - sounds fantastic! Keep me posted.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea to me, challenges would be good, but not sure how you would work it, although simple things like having half a day where you manage to eat healthily might be good (or a full day?) but this might not be so good for people who don't have an issue with bad eating, maybe asking for healthy recipies? Anyway I think its a great idea and anything to try and help me rein my eating habits in is good.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll see what works best but I'm going to do a post every Wednesday with a theme or some ideas of what to do so people can link up in whatever way they see fit (similar to Groovy Mums), then maybe each month could involve some sort of challenge day. For now, the first post is up & all about making introductions.
